In this historic Washington Highlands home, we designed the kitchen to honor the natural charm and timeless character of the existing spaces, bringing those classic influences into a fresh, new layout.

We started with a simple goal: harmonize, not overwhelm the connecting rooms. The sink placement was carefully chosen to take full advantage of natural light and views of the backyard, while minimal cabinet profiles in rift-sawn white oak create a soft, natural palette that highlights the home’s enduring elegance.

Honed quartz and polished terrazzo floors keep the space bright and airy, while moss-green tile grounds the room and adds a subtle layer of color and texture. The result is a kitchen that feels modern and functional, yet right at home with the space—blending thoughtful design, practical updates, and the historic soul of the home seamlessly.
